Arsenal Reportedly Reach Agreement with ‘Unstoppable’ Striker Viktor Gyokeres
According to reports from Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal has made significant progress in their pursuit of Sporting CP’s star striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish forward, known for his impressive goal-scoring ability, is said to have verbally agreed to a potential move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Throughout the transfer window, Arsenal has been actively searching for a new striker to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s attacking options. Names like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak have repeatedly surfaced as possible targets. However, it appears that the Gunners may now have the upper hand in their race for Gyokeres, who is regarded as one of Europe’s most in-form strikers.
Tavolieri took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal that Gyokeres has given his approval for a switch to North London.
The striker has enjoyed an outstanding season with Sporting, netting 54 goals and providing 12 assists in just 52 matches. His extraordinary numbers have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in European football.
Fabrizio Romano, a trusted name in football transfers, had earlier indicated that Sporting were prepared to entertain offers for their star player this summer.
The Portuguese club reportedly values Gyokeres at around €65 million (approximately £55 million) and would consider sanctioning a deal at that price.
While Arsenal has now seemingly secured a verbal agreement with Gyokeres, the club remains active in the transfer market. Sources suggest that their top priority continues to be Benjamin Sesko, who has a release clause of €80 million (around £67 million) in his current contract with RB Leipzig. Discussions are believed to be ongoing between both clubs as Arsenal attempts to finalize personal terms with the 21-year-old Slovenian striker.
As things stand, Arsenal has yet to agree on personal terms with Sesko, leaving the door open for other options if negotiations fall through. Despite Gyokeres showing willingness to join, the Gunners are carefully considering their options as Arteta aims to bolster his squad for the upcoming season.
The North London club remains determined to secure a top-quality striker to lead their attack, with both Sesko and Gyokeres among their top candidates.
