REPORT NEWS: Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts Reveals Why James Outman is With Team in LA

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that both James Outman and Esteury Ruiz are with the team on the taxi squad.

Roberts said both Tommy Edman and Hyeseong Kim look healthy, and the taxi outfield duo will likely end up going back to Oklahoma City.

Ruiz and Outman were with the team in case one or both of Edman and Kim had to go on the injured list. Edman tweaked his ankle earlier this week, the same one that required him to miss three weeks in an IL stint.

As for Kim, the utility man appeared to be in some pain after fouling a ball off his foot, but Roberts insisted that he was fine.

In nine Major League games this season, Outman hit .125 with two home runs, four runs batted in and an OPS of .597.

The 28-year-old’s numbers are much better in the minors as he’s hitting .271 with 12 home runs, 42 RBIs and a .904 OPS across 181 at-bats with Triple-A OKC.

Ruiz had a locker in the Dodgers clubhouse Wednesday with Edman out of the lineup for a second straight game. Kim was also not in Wednesday’s lineup. However, it appears there’s no concern with either player.

This season, Ruiz is hitting .274 with three home runs, 30 RBIs and 27 stolen bases for OKC. The Dodgers acquired the outfielder via trade from the Athletics in April.
