Star-hunting will likely take up most of the Miami Heat‘s focus when it comes to offseason dealings in the coming months.
After saying goodbye to ex-Heat superstar Jimmy Butler through a mid-season trade with the Golden State Warriors, the franchise could be in the market to acquire a new leading man.
Unfortunately, this may eventually lead to the departure of a rising star and impactful on-ball threat if the Heat’s team president, Pat Riley, chooses to engage in discussions for a top-10 talent.
Recent reports from FanSided’s Dan Favale detail the Heat’s continued search for a franchise-altering player, as well as the stunning possible casualties of a monster summer trade.
“The Heat still needs to find that player, and it won’t be easy. They have no young prospects lying in wait who could seize that role, their trade asset stores are limited, and they won’t have significant cap space until 2026. It doesn’t matter. The Heat needs to figure it out anyway,” Favale wrote.
With enticing names like the Milwaukee Bucks‘ Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Phoenix Suns‘ Kevin Durant sitting atop the list of desirable trade targets, Tyler Herro would likely be included in an exchange to either Milwaukee or Phoenix in a prospective deal.
“Maybe that entails waiting for 2026 free agency, or even suffering through a gap year next season and drafting someone. It might even entail looking at Herro or, less likely, Adebayo trades,” he added.
The 25-year-old first-time All-Star put on a show in 2024-25, as he contributed a career-best 23.9 points and 5.5 assists on a 56.3% effective field goal percentage in 77 appearances.
Herro could be viewed as a potential building block for a team looking to rid itself of a disgruntled superstar, especially after his sensational campaign.
While losing out on Herro would be an extraordinarily tough pill for the Miami Heat to swallow, the franchise may not let a chance to pair Durant or Antetokounmpo next to their 3-time All-Star center Bam Adebayo pass them by.
