“Tottenham Insider Challenges Crucial Heung-min Son Contract Decision”
Former Tottenham scout Bryan King, who remains closely connected to the club, believes that Spurs should not hesitate to secure a new contract for Heung-min Son. According to recent reports, Tottenham changed course on Son’s future, opting not to pursue a long-term extension at this time. Instead, the club has allegedly chosen to activate a one-year extension in Son’s contract, keeping him at the club until 2026.
TBR Football reported that Son’s representatives were taken aback by Tottenham’s shift, as earlier contract discussions suggested a shared intention for a longer deal.
King, however, opposes Tottenham’s decision and argues that they should offer Son a two-year contract if he’s interested in staying. King sees the deal as not only beneficial for Son but also a strategic business move, given the forward’s star appeal, especially among South Korean fans. He noted that a large number of fans travel from Korea for Spurs’ matches, making Son’s presence valuable for both sporting and financial reasons.
While Tottenham’s decision may be temporary, possibly influenced by current discussions with potential investors, Son’s importance to the team suggests a new long-term offer could still materialize before the season ends.
