Despite delivering long-awaited silverware, the Australian coach appears to be on the brink of an unexpected exit, according to bombshell reports emerging from both England and France.

Tottenham endured a dismal domestic campaign last season, finishing a shocking 17th in the Premier League table—far below expectations. With just 11 wins across 38 games, they managed to scrape together only 38 points, leading to widespread frustration among fans and pundits alike. The league form was nothing short of disastrous for a club of Spurs’ stature, raising serious questions about Postecoglou’s tactical approach and leadership.

However, despite their Premier League collapse, Spurs managed to salvage some pride by securing a major European trophy. In a memorable Europa League campaign, the North London side defied the odds to lift the title, edging out Manchester United 1-0 in a tense final. The victory ended a 17-year trophy drought and gave supporters a long-awaited moment of celebration.

After the historic win, Postecoglou addressed the media but gave little away about his future. In his post-match press conference, he acknowledged the uncertainty around his position at the club.

“I understand why it would be difficult for a club like this to buy into one person’s vision,” he remarked candidly. “I remember even when I signed, the club—and even Daniel [Levy]—said, ‘We went after winners, it didn’t work, and now we’ve got Ange.’ But mate, I’m a winner.”

“Obviously, the way things have gone in the league, people are right to be concerned, but I don’t think that’s a true reflection of where we are at,” he added.

Despite his optimism, it appears the decision-makers at Tottenham are preparing to go in a different direction. According to Football Insider, club chairman Daniel Levy has already made up his mind and is prepared to part ways with Postecoglou—just days after he delivered the club’s first major honour since 2008.

The search for his successor is already underway, and reports from French outlet Foot Mercato claim Spurs have initiated direct contact with Brentford manager Thomas Frank. Discussions have reportedly taken place between the Danish coach and Tottenham officials, focusing on the club’s long-term project and upcoming transfer strategy.

Frank, who has become one of the most respected managers in the Premier League, is believed to be one of the leading contenders for the job. While he’s not the only name on Spurs’ shortlist, he is thought to be among the frontrunners should Postecoglou’s dismissal be confirmed.

The 51-year-old Dane has been at Brentford since December 2016, initially serving as assistant head coach before taking over from Dean Smith in October 2018. Under his leadership, the club achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2021 via the Championship play-offs, defeating Swansea City in the final. Since then, Frank has successfully established Brentford as a stable and competitive Premier League side, earning widespread praise for his tactical acumen, player development, and ability to get the best out of a modest squad.

Should Spurs appoint Frank, it would mark a significant shift in direction—perhaps favouring a more pragmatic, structured approach after the attacking chaos that occasionally defined the Postecoglou era.

As things stand, Ange Postecoglou’s future hangs in the balance. Despite the Europa League glory, Tottenham’s domestic collapse appears to have weighed heavily in the boardroom. Whether the Australian coach is given more time to implement his vision or shown the door in favour of a new face like Thomas Frank remains to be seen.
