A total of nine Kansas City players did not participate in full workouts during Thursday’s voluntary OTA session.
On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs conducted the third and final session of this week’s voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs) at the team’s practice facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex.
Our Pete Sweeney was among the media representatives who got their first look at the 2025 Chiefs.
Six players — wide receivers Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice, tight end Travis Kelce and offensive linemen Ethan Driskell, Jawaan Taylor and Trey Smith — were not present for the voluntary session.
Players who were present (but whos participation was limited) included tight end Jared Wiley, tackle Josh Simmons and cornerback Kristian Fulton.
Wiley, of course, is still recovering from a torn ACL he sustained during a practice in early November.
We should emphasize that what we observed on Thursday does not allow us to draw any conclusions about player absences (or playing status) for the OTA sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
KSHB-TV sports anchor Mick Shaffer was present, posting some video from the first OTA session open to reporters.
The team will have two more rounds of voluntary OTA sessions.
The second one will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week; Wednesday’s session will be open to reporters.
The final round of OTAs will take place Tuesday through Friday of the following week (June 10-13) with the media present on Thursday.
The team’s mandatory minicamp will be conducted June 17-19.
