Liverpool are reportedly targeting Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for a potential transfer at the end of the season, but they will have to fend off competition from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old French forward has impressed with his performances in Germany, tallying 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this season.
Liverpool interested in Ekitike
According to Sky Sports, both Arne Slot and Michael Edwards are admirers of Ekitike and have already initiated preliminary contact regarding a move. Liverpool are believed to be pursuing a calculated approach as they seek a more reliable option up front, potentially to replace Darwin Nunez.
Ekitike’s contract includes a €100 million release clause, though it’s unlikely any club will pay the full amount given his limited experience at the highest level. Liverpool are expected to negotiate for a more reasonable fee.
Chelsea also in the race
Chelsea are also keeping close tabs on Ekitike as they aim to upgrade their attacking line, with Nicolas Jackson struggling for consistency.
The French striker’s Bundesliga form and skill set suggest he could adapt well to Premier League football.
Both Liverpool and Chelsea present attractive destinations for the young forward, offering a platform to grow and compete at the top level. With two major Premier League clubs in the mix, Ekitike’s future will be one to watch closely this summer.
