The Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls had drastically different seasons in 2024-25.
The Warriors made the playoffs and defeated the Houston Rockets in the first round before losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round.
Meanwhile, the Bulls missed the playoffs for the third straight year.
Golden State star Steph Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1 against the Timberwolves. He missed the rest of the series and the Warriors went 0-4 without the two-time MVP.
Chicago made a big trade this season, sending Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings.
One NBA analyst believes the Bulls should make another deal this summer.
Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report proposed that the Bulls trade Coby White to the Warriors for Jonathan Kuminga.
It would be a sign-and-trade deal since Kuminga becomes a restricted free agent this offseason.
“Kuminga is a hyper-athletic forward who has flashed dominant foul-drawing potential and two-way impact en route to four-year averages of 12.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists on 50.7 percent shooting in his Golden State career,” Hughes wrote. “He also didn’t click with the Warriors’ read-and-react system, often falling out of the rotation for weeks at a time.
“If the Bulls take a chance on Kuminga, who’s still just 22, the Warriors should ask for Coby White. His expiring $12.8 million salary in 2025-26 isn’t large enough to make an extension realistic in Chicago, and his scoring and shot-creation would address Golden State’s most critical weakness.”
Kuminga appeared in 47 games for the Warriors this season. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field, 30.5% from beyond the arc and 66.8% from the foul line.
According to Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, Kuminga and the Warriors are expected to explore sign-and-trade options this summer.
Kuminga turns 23 in October. He has career averages of 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
