She’s one of the most talked about people on the planet and if people aren’t asking when Taylor Swift’s next Taylor’s Version re-release is dropping, they’re wondering when her boyfriend Travis Kelce will be popping the question.
Taylor and Travis, both 35, went public with their relationship in October 2023 and speculation is rife about when Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis will finally propose to the pop superstar.
But a source tells heat he might not be getting down on one knee anytime soon as he’s worried about the building pressure to get it just right and make the proposal extra special for Taylor and her army of fans
The source says, ‘Travis wants the proposal to be unforgettable, like something out of a movie.
He knows Taylor’s had some pretty romantic moments in her life, and he wants to top them.
The pressure is intense because not only does he have to wow Taylor, but he also has to impress all the fans too.
The whole world is watching and judging and constantly talking about when and where this will happen, it’s a lot to handle. He’s worried about the timing, the location, even what he’s going to wear, it’s sweet, but he’s definitely overthinking it.’
And although the proposal might not be coming in the immediate future, some fans fear it won’t be coming at all – as the couple have recently been plagued by breakup rumours.
While Taylor attended several of Travis’ games last season – including the Super Bowl where the Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles – and Travis supported Taylor on her Eras Tour, even appearing on stage in London, many have noticed they’ve barely been seen together since their schedules have quietened down.
The couple haven’t been seen together since mid-March when they were photographed entering a restaurant in New York City. Since, Travis has been pictured partying without his girlfriend on a trip to Las Vegas.
But our insider tells us their romance is still going strong, and Travis has already started designing the ring he will pop the question with.
‘He’s been secretly working with a jeweller to custom design one and bouncing ideas off her closest friends to make sure it’s perfect, so this is definitely happening soon, the source says.
‘Her friends are all sworn to secrecy, but they’ve been dropping hints to Taylor, so she knows it’s coming, it’s just a matter of when.’
Many predict that Travis – who fans think slipped up, revealing he had moved in with the singer, in a recent interview – will propose this summer as he will likely want it done for when the next NFL season starts in early September and while Taylor continues to take an extended break from the limelight following the end of her record-breaking Eras Tour last December.
However, it seems that time is running out as she recently debuted the re-recorded Look What You Made Me Do from her upcoming Reputation (Taylor’s Version) album in an episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, leading many to believe she is about to return to the public eye imminently.
But it appears that the Bad Blood hitmaker may be growing impatient as the source continues, ‘Taylor has every faith that Travis will pop the question eventually, but it is making her a little nervous that it’s dragged on so long.
‘The talk amongst her friends is that she’d love them to be officially engaged by the start of the football season, but that’s only a few months away and so she’s resigned to the possibility that he may put it off until after that.
Bottom line is that Travis has the entire summer to do this but he’s not one to respond to pressure or expectation – that’s a big reason why he’s held off this long already and is still waiting for the perfect moment.
‘And of course the longer this goes on the more the expectation builds, which they both find enormously irritating at this point, truth be told. People in their world know better than to nag them at this point, even though Travis’s brother Jason likes to tease him and his team-mates have been taking bets amongst each other about when he’ll do the right thing and get down on one knee. But overall, they’re being left alone and not pestered about this stuff, at least not as much as they were up until a few months ago.’
But one reason why Travis might decide the time isn’t quite right to ask Taylor for her hand in marriage sooner rather than later is her stress over her friend Blake Lively’s court case against her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.
Blake, 37, filed a lawsuit against Justin, 41, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempting to damage her reputation, allegations he denies. Justin has counter-sued for deformation, civil extortion and false light invasion of privacy and is seeking $400million in damages. Blake also denies the allegations.
And it was recently revealed that Taylor had been subpoenaed by Justin’s lawyers, meaning she could be questioned over her friendship with Blake and may have to hand over private messages between them, which could be made public as part of the lawsuit.
Our source continues, ‘Taylor is incredibly stressed right now over all the Blake and Ryan situation, which has been a real thorn in her side for many months now.
Travis wants to shepherd her through that and propose when she’s in a happier state of mind.
In some ways it would be a lovely tonic to lift her spirits, but at the same time it doesn’t feel quite right to be throwing a formal engagement into the mix right now. Taylor wants to lay low and stay under the radar whilst all this legal drama is going on. When she does officially become the official Mrs.
Kelce you can bet they’ll want to shout it from the rooftops. And with all this negative, depressing chatter going on in the background makes for awkward timing – at least, that’s how Travis is justifying the delay, anyhow.’
