Steph Curry is not ready to face Klay Thompson as an opponent for the first time in his NBA career. Curry and the Golden State Warriors are set to welcome Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks at the Chase Center on Tuesday night. It’s the first Warriors-Mavs matchup since Thompson signed with Dallas in free agency this year.
Speaking to “Warriors Postgame Live” on NBC Sports Bay Area after Golden State’s 127-116 win over the OKC Thunder, Curry was asked about his feelings about the upcoming reunion with their former teammate. Curry admitted that he’s trying to save his energy thinking about it because it’s going to be a handful.
“Don’t do this to me,” Curry said. “Don’t do this to me. I’m not ready for this, man. It’s going to be a lot to look forward to and I’m excited to see him, obviously as a friend. But I’m trying to conserve all of my mental energy for Tuesday because it’s going to be a lot.”

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were teammates for 13 seasons before Thompson left the Golden State Warriors in free agency this summer. They were called the Splash Brothers and are considered one of the greatest backcourt duos in NBA history.
Curry and Thompson won four NBA championships together, so it’s going to be a tough time for Warriors fans to see them battling each other. Thompson signed with the Mavericks looking to prove something after a tumultuous final season at the Bay Area.
Tuesday’s matchup is the first meeting between the two teams this season and will also start their respective NBA In-Season Tournament campaigns. The NBA Cup is at stake, and teams will look to follow the footsteps of the LA Lakers, who became the inaugural winners last season.
