The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be busy in free agency next offseason. Regardless of how the 2025 season ends, the Dodgers have already been linked to star outfielder Kyle Tucker.
MLB insider Jim Bowden revealed Tucker is projected to land a considerable contract this coming winter, upwards of $600 million.
“Following Juan Soto’s record-setting $765 million deal in free agency and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s $500 million extension, Tucker is expected to land a nine-figure contract that starts with a 6,” Bowden writes. “Several big-market teams, including the Cubs, Phillies, Yankees and Dodgers, should be in play for him.”
This season, Tucker is slashing .278/.387/.552 with 12 home runs, 35 runs batted in and an OPS of .939. The 28-year-old is a Silver Slugger, Gold Glover and three-time All-Star.
This isn’t the first time this year the Dodgers have been linked to an outfielder. Just a month ago, L.A. reportedly tabled trade discussions with the Chicago White Sox for Luis Robert Jr.
The Dodgers have one of the best rosters in baseball, but the team does lack outfield depth as evidenced by the absence of both Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman during their stints on the injured list.
The ongoing struggles of Michael Conforto have also been a concern.
The Dodgers signed Conforto to a one-year, $17 million deal last offseason, and manager Dave Roberts envisioned the outfielder’s tenure in L.A. would pan out in similar way to Hernandez’s first season with the Dodgers.
Two months into the season, Conforto’s performance has been less than ideal as he is hitting .164 with two home runs and six runs batted in. However, in the last 10 games, the outfielder is hitting .265 with an OPS of .771.
Regardless, the Dodgers certainly could use a star outfielder heading into 2026 and Tucker is the perfect solution. However, it would be hard to imagine L.A. winning the bidding war over teams that need him much more.
