Walker Buehler was fired up after his ejection from Tuesday night’s game, and the Red Sox pitcher expressed his emotions on multiple platforms.
The two-time All-Star’s return from injury was short-lived after home plate umpire Mike Estabrook tossed Buehler with one out in the third inning for leaving the mound to argue balls and strikes. Manager Alex Cora also was ejected, and one thing that stood out was Francisco Lindor’s reaction to the scene.
Lindor appeared to lean into a pitch earlier in the inning, and the New York Mets star openly encouraged Buehler’s ejection. Red Sox fans bemoaned the All-Star shortstop’s actions, and Buehler couldn’t have agreed with them more.
“I wouldn’t want me out there either. Sad thing is the BULLPEN is full of (expletive) animals,” Buehler posted on X. “Tough choice.”
Buehler’s praise for the bullpen was consistent in his responses to his ejection, which he took full responsibility for. Boston used six relievers Tuesday night, and the bullpen arms held a formidable Mets lineup scoreless after Buehler’s exit.
