Viral Moment: Patrick Mahomes’ Message to Bo Nix During Postgame Handshake Turns Heads

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix got his first glimpse of why so many opposing QBs in the NFL hate playing Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

For 54 minutes and three seconds on Sunday, Nix and the Broncos dominated the Chiefs.

They took the lead in the first quarter and controlled the game up until the final six minutes of the fourth quarter when Mahomes does what he does best: pull a win out of his hat.

After trailing 14-3 near the end of the second quarter, the Chiefs reeled off 13 straight points to pull out a 16-14 win as Kansas City blocked a Will Lutz 35-yard field goal as time expired to stay unbeaten.

Nix was just seconds away from handing Mahomes his first loss of 2024, and after an impressive showing in just his 10th start, Mahomes expressed his admiration of Nix during their postgame handshake.

Cool postgame moment.

“Keep leading those dudes. It’s just the first one, we got a lot of these things.” Mahomes wasn’t the only one to acknowledge Nix’s breakout performance.

Fans took to social media to rave about a future Mahomes-Nix rivalry for years to come in the AFC West. “Nice to actually feel like we might have someone that can duel with him,” one fan stated.

“Will be fun to watch a true back and forth between the two of them. Bo looking like he’s headed in the right direction,” another added. “

Mahomes knows….. we got something cooling. Bo is coming for him real soon,” another fan expressed. Nix completed 22 of 30 passes for 220 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 115.3 passer rating.

It was the third time this season he completed 70% of his passes or better, and the third time he threw multiple touchdowns with no picks.

Among rookie QBs, Nix is first in passing touchdowns (10), second to Jayden Daniels in passing yards (2,147 to 1,968), and third behind Daniels (118.8) and Drake Maye (101.7) in passer rating (84.1).
