Want to spend a Sunday with Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes and your buddies while throwing footballs, hitting golf balls, drinking beer and eating barbecue?
That sounds like a dream day for any sports fan — but one that probably costs thousands and thousands of dollars at an auction.
Actually, it is free to book via Airbnb.
That’s because Airbnb, a website in which residents offer up their homes for guests as an alternative to hotels, is trying to promote its reimagined Airbnb Experiences. Offered in 650 cities around the world, those experiences can range from learning how to make ramen from an expert chef in Tokyo to riding in the Andes with an anthropologist.
“This is about introducing Airbnb Experiences to as many people as possible,” Liz DeBold Fusco, Airbnb product and launch communications director and part of the team who created the concept, exclusively shared.
Requests to book the Mahomes hangout via the Airbnb app run through May 19, and four guests (and their plus-ones), who must be 21 or over, will be selected to join Mahomes on Sunday, June 1 in Kansas City, Mo.
As part of the booking process, the app asks: “Why do you want spend a Sunday Funday with Patrick Mahomes?”
After randomly choosing a set of potential guests, Airbnb will review their answers to that question, looking in particular for a unique perspective and a personal connection to the Mahomes experience.
Upon the guests’ arrival for the four-hour event, they will be welcomed by NFL Media’s Kimmi Chex, a Kansas City native.
Then they will play beer pong, chip golf balls into floating rings on a pond, dribble a soccer ball through cones and throw 10 footballs through multiple hoops. The winning team will receive a trophy, and all participants/guests will then enjoy a spread from Jack Stack BBQ.
