Viral Moment: Mookie Betts’ Son Kaj, 2, Steals the Show as He Throws Out the First Pitch at L.A. Dodgers Game in Adorable Video

Kaj, son of Mookie Betts #50, hands him the ball after throwing the ceremonial first pitch before the regular season MLB game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

Mookie Betts may have another baseball star in the family.

On Tuesday, May 13, the MLB outfielder’s son, Kaj, 2, ran onto the field and threw out the ceremonial first pitch on his dad’s Bobblehead Night. In the adorable video shared on the MLB’s official X account, the toddler can be seen running with a baseball in his hand, wearing a tiny Betts jersey, black pants and sneakers.

After running a bit too far, Betts’ wife Brianna Hammonds grabs the 2-year-old to bring him back to the correct spot. Shortly after his mom planted his feet on the ground, the little one threw the pitch to his dad, who grabbed the ball with his glove and walked over to his family.

In addition to Kaj, the The Los Angeles Dodgers player and his wife are parents to daughter Kynlee, 6, whom they welcomed in November 2018.

Betts’ children have been frequent supporters of his baseball career — even celebrating on the field with him throughout the 2024 World Series against the New York Yankees.

However, juggling fatherhood and baseball hasn’t always been easy.

During a July 2022 appearance on the Dear Fathers podcast, the professional athlete opened up about how “hard” it was to be “pulled in different directions” when he wanted to excel on the field and spend time at home.

Still, Betts credits his daughter and son for giving his work new meaning.

“It was a little bit easier to go to work and know that you have something to play for, someone that’s really depending on you outside of you and your wife,” he said in a December 2023 video on his YouTube channel.

Even at a young age, Kaj has shared in his family’s spotlight, appearing in a Lego advertisement alongside his parents and sister in September 2024.

He has also been a frequent supporter of his dad during baseball games. Following the Dodgers’ World Series Game 2 win on Oct. 26, Kaj and his sister embraced their dad on the field — with Kaj keeping an extra eye on his dad’s glove.

Betts shared additional clips with his kids from the World Series on Instagram, writing that although he was “focused on the game,” he was “fueled by family.”
