Yankees Lose Trent Grisham to Braves in 1-For-1 ‘Sell High’ Trade Idea

Trent Grisham của Yankees có thể tạo ra tác động gì vào năm 2025? - Pinstripe Alley

The New York Yankees have seen some surprises en route to their first-place standing in the American League East division.

Among the disappointments have been a season-ending injury to franchise ace Gerrit Cole and an 8.36 ERA for former shutdown closer Devin Williams.

Among the positive surprises have been a resurgence for veteran slugger Paul Goldschmidt and the emergence of Ben Rice as a legitimate power leadoff bat.

But perhaps the happiest surprise for the Yankees has been Trent Grisham.

Originally added to the team alongside Juan Soto in a trade with the San Diego Padres ahead of last season, Grisham slashed just .190/.290/.385 in 179 at-bats in his debut campaign with the Yankees. So far this season, that slash line is up to .294/.374/.651 with 12 homers and 22 RBI to boot. Grisham’s homer total puts him among the top-five sluggers in all of baseball, right alongside Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.

But the Yankees face a bit of a logjam in the outfield and might have some other roster needs to address if they hope to return to the World Series. As a result, Heavy’s TJ French pitched a trade idea that would send Grisham to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for starting pitcher Grant Holmes.

“Now this provides the Yankees with a great opportunity to sell high on Grisham, who is bound to come back down to earth,” French wrote. “Holmes would be the perfect third-fourth rotation option for New York as they get things settled with the rest of the pitchers in the rotation. … The bottom line is that the Yankees’ rotation has been hampered with injuries, and reinforcements are needed now.”

Holmes has maintained a 4.14 ERA across eight starts so far with the Braves, suggesting he could be an upgrade over the struggling Will Warren and a stopgap as Marcus Stroman endures some setbacks in an injury recovery.

It might be hard for Yankees fans to say goodbye to Grisham in the midst of such a hot start, but it could also be the perfect time to land a significant return by trading him away.
