NFL Player’s Wife Reveals Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes’ Effect on Nasty WAG Accusations
The term NFL WAG, which refers to the Wives And Girlfriends of NFL players, has a certain negative connotation to it. Or at least it used to.
This is what Allison Kuch, the wife of free agent Isaac Rochell believes, and this is exactly what she discussed in a recent exclusive interview with People — including how the narrative has changed of late.
When it comes to WAGs in today’s game, there’s no one bigger than Taylor Swift, who is the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Not far behind her in terms of popularity is Brittany Mahomes, who is the better half of reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.
According to Kuch, both Swift and Brittany Mahomes have had a significant impact in changing the image of a typical NFL wag, which includes shutting down nasty accusations about women marrying players in order to improve their financial stature.
“I think women in and around sports are being uplifted more now, and we have so many incredible women to thank for that,” Kuch said. “I mean, Taylor Swift, Simone Biles, Brittany Mahomes – these women are doing amazing things beyond just being a ‘wife.'”
As Kuch touched on, Simone Biles is another well-known NFL WAG. She is married to Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens.
“The narrative is moving in a much more positive direction, away from the old stereotype of, ‘Oh, you married him for his money,'” Kuch said, adding, “I hope I’ve played a part in changing that as well.”

She also pointed out how Swift, in particular, has increased the fanbase of the NFL significantly. “I love any excuse people can find to be more interested in sports, like being a Taylor Swift fan and wanting to watch more football,” Kuch said. “I’m all here for, I think sports can be for anybody and everyone.”
At the end of the day, Swift and her impact on the NFL will still have its fair share of critics. However, as Kuch pointed out, it seems that the “Eras Tour” headliner brings much more good than she does bad (if any) to the sport in general.
