Mets’ Ronny Mauricio set for a rehab assignment with the Rumble Ponies

BREAKING NEWS: Mets INF Ronny Mauricio suffers torn ACL

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) — Mets infielder Ronny Mauricio will start a rehab assignment in Binghamton in a Saturday matchup against the Fightin Phils.

The game was originally supposed to be played on Friday afternoon, but was canceled due to rain.

Mauricio is recovering from a December 2023 torn ACL in his right knee.

In 2023, the 24-year-old played in 26 games with the Mets, which included a pair of home runs while batting .248.

In 2021 and 2022, Mauricio batted .259 with 26 homers and 89 RBIs in 123 games with the Rumble Ponies.

First pitch is set for noon at Mirabito Stadium on Saturday against Reading.
