We’re always interested in how familiar faces are faring in new spaces, but some bad news emerged on Thursday with the news that wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will be facing a likely three-game suspension during the 2025 campaign, per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports.
Robinson was arrested in November on a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was clocked at over 100 miles per hour while driving close to the L.A. Rams training complex in Woodland Hills, California.
Robinson, who is now with the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year deal, first entered the National Football League as a former fourth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs back in the 2016 NFL Draft. Robinson was taken in the same draft class as Tyreek Hill and was quickly overshadowed among the rookie lot as Hill became a Pro Bowl weapon in his first year.
Demarcus Robinson is facing a likely three-game suspension linked to his DUI arrest last November.
Robinson had a respectable career with the Chiefs with 97 games played over six seasons. He had 145 catches in his tenure in Kansas City with 1,679 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.
Robinson would move on to play for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022 for a single season before landing with the Rams for two impressive years in which he’d become a popular red zone target on offense—catching 11 scores in those two seasons. That’s nearly his total from his stint in K.C., which lasted three times as long.
The 49ers landed Robinson with a solid two-year deal in free agency worth up to $9 million. For a veteran who has proven so reliable and steadily productive over the years, it was a solid buy even with the likely suspension hanging over his head. That’s especially true for an offense worried about Brandon Aiyuk’s recovery from serious injury.
Robinson has 250 career catches for 3,013 yards and 27 touchdowns in his 9 year NFL career.
