Miami Heat to extend qualifying offer to fourth-year guard

Miami Heat are expected to extend an $8.7 million qualifying offer to guard Davion Mitchell.

The Miami Heat have begun shaping their roster for next season following an underwhelming campaign that ended in a first-round sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

One player the Heat are reportedly interested in retaining is guard Davion Mitchell.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the team is expected to extend an $8.7 million qualifying offer to Mitchell, giving Miami the right to match any external offers he may receive.

While a potential two- or three-year deal for Mitchell would further impact the Heat’s 2026 salary cap, Jackson notes that Miami is unlikely to operate as a “room” team by then anyway.

Mitchell made a solid impression after being acquired via mid-season from Toronto, averaging 10.3 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game, providing a much-needed spark on both ends of the floor.
