Who are the 3 longshot rookies the Chiefs just added to their 90-man roster?

The team announced the trio of signings following the event. Louisiana Tech wide receiver Jimmy Holiday, Carson-Newman defensive back Major Williams, and Texas Christian linebacker Cooper McDonald all took advantage of the opportunity in front of them and made their pro dreams come true.
Let’s take a quick look at each player to get to know the Chiefs’ newest roster additions a bit more.
Jimmy Holiday, WR
Jimmy Holiday has extensive experience trying to ingratiate himself quickly into new places as a two-time transfer from Tennessee (2020-22) to Western Kentucky (2023) to Lousiana Tech (2024).
This past year, Holiday, who stands at 6’0″ and 211 lbs., proved himself to be dangerous in both the run game and the passing game.
He had 39 catches for 476 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Bulldogs. He added another 182 yards yards and 4 touchdowns rushing.
Before coming to La. Tech, Holiday had a difficult time carving out anything more than a return role for the Vols with only 7 catches over three seasons. With the Hilltoppers in ’23, he added 20 catches for 326 yards.
With the Chiefs, he may be asked to lean back into that return role to at least explore the ways he can help the team.
It’s also important to note that the Giants invited him to their rookie camp starting on May 9, so the Chiefs clearly wanted to keep him from getting away. That bodes well for his chances to know there are other interested suitors.
Cooper McDonald, LB
Just like Holiday, Cooper McDonald is a two-time transfer who found his way onto the Chiefs roster. McDonald was an instant hit at TCU last season after having signed over from San Diego State.
He was an Aztec for two seasons after initially joining Washington out of high school.
This season, McDonald played off the edge for TCU in a revamped linebacking corps that included multiple transfers. He responded with 3 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 forced fumble. He also missed four games due to injury, so perhaps more playing time might have yielded stronger results on draft weeend.
McDonald weighed in at 6’2, 235 lbs. at TCU’s pro day and ran a 4.66-second 40-yard dash.
Nevertheless, McDonald impressed with the Chiefs, and he took advantage of this opportunity. The Chiefs have given numerous undrafted linebackers a real chance in years past, so McDonald has examples to look to if he wants inspiration.
Major Wright, DB
Major Wright decided to transfer from Virginia to a smaller school for greater opportunity and it paid off enough to interest the Chiefs’ front office to arrange a post-draft workout.
That’s all Major Wright needed.
Wright took his talents to Carson-Newman where he became a two-time All-American performer. When challenged to showcase his skills against better competition, he took home the defensive MVP trophy at this year’s Hula Bowl.
At his pro day, Wright confirmed his readiness for the next level with an impressive 37-inch vertical leap and a 4.4-second time in the 40-yard dash.
Major Williams is a SS prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 9.58 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 52 out of 1228 SS from 1987 to 2025.https://t.co/9BGdYs64ZJ pic.twitter.com/GTfzSswdzP

While each prospect still faces an unlikely uphill climb to stay on the roster, their ability to earn notice from Andy Reid and his staff is a testament to their hard work, talent, and determination.
