Nikola Vucevic Trade Claim Made After Chicago Bulls Veteran’s Strong Start

Nikola Vucevic was instrumental once again as the Chicago Bulls ended a four-game losing streak with a 125-113 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The veteran center had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes on the court. It was not a mere coincidence that the Bulls ended their losing streak on Zach LaVine’s return game. He also had 18 points alongside 7 assists and 2 rebounds. The Bulls veterans have been the franchise’s two best players this season. But that does not mean that their future is secure in Chicago. On the contrary, the plan seems to be for Vucevic and LaVine to rebuild their trade value before the Bulls explore exit options once again.

LaVine has a massive contract but that has not stopped him from being linked repeatedly with the Los Angeles Lakers in recent weeks. On the other hand, there have not been any particular teams who have been linked with Vucevic and his recent performances are proof that he can still be a positive contributor. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report recently said: “I asked a general manager this week what you would trade for Nikola Vucevic, and he said, ‘A couple of seconds’.”

It also looks like Vucevic is the more likely one to be traded right now as Fischer added: “I think there might actually be more of an opportunity for a Vucevic trade at this juncture.” The Bulls seem intent on a rebuild at this point. For that to be a success, they might need to say goodbye to players like LaVine and Vucevic, despite their great starts to the season. There was not believed to be much trade interest in the veteran duo over the offseason but logic would suggest that that is no longer the case. It remains to be seen if the Bulls are able to find homes for their two former All-Stars.
