Chiefs make third roster move following 2025 rookie minicamp, signing TCU LB Cooper McDonald after successful tryout

Nov 23, 2024; Fort Worth, Texas, USA; TCU Horned Frogs linebacker Cooper McDonald (44) reacts after making a sack against the Arizona Wildcats in the first quarter at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs seem to have liked their group of undrafted free agent tryout players at rookie minicamp.

The team has signed a third player from the group, with TCU LB Cooper McDonald joining Carson-Newman S Major Williams and Louisiana Tech WR Jimmy Holiday among Kansas City’s post-rookie minicamp UDFA ranks.

McDonald posted some images of himself from the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp this weekend and pictures of him signing his contract on his Instagram page. Check it out:

This is another highly competitive position in Kansas City. Shaun Bradley and Blake Lynch are both recent cuts, and the team also has several depth players at linebacker who have been in the system for a long time. Still, McDonald seems to have shown enough to the defensive and special teams coaching staff to earn a spot on the 90-man offseason roster for the time being.
