Kansas City Chiefs running back Brashard Smith is slowly getting his feet underneath him as rookie mini-camp has now concluded.

It has been a tough couple of days seeing the 2025 rookie class put through their paces both on the field and in the classroom. For some players, the transition from college to the NFL is a big one, and it can be a baptism of fire..

However, the SMU star is confident that with his particular dual-threat abilities, he will be able to offer something to the Chiefs’ offense in 2025.

“I feel like just as the position I play, not a lot of running backs have receiver skills and running back skills,” Smith said. So I feel just coming in, I could contribute for sure with my skill set.”

We know that Reid likes his backs to be versatile out of the backfield, with Kareen Hunt (176 yards from 23 receptions), Samaje Perine (322 yards from 28 recpetions, one touchdown) being factors on the passing game last season.

It is clear that Smith thinks he can do a similar job if given the opportunity, and he has shown it on film in college.

Training camp will be where Smith can show his true skill set, which he thinks, will be able to offer the Chiefs offense another thread to pull as they look to bounce back from a horror end to 2024.
