Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce did not walk the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala.

The pop superstar and the NFL player, both 35, did not attend the Monday, May 5, event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where the theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

While the appearance would have marked Kelce’s first time at the Met Gala, Swift previously attended the soiree solo in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016. During her last appearance at the Met Gala, she served as a cochair for the event.

Swift and Kelce have been dating since the summer of 2023. Despite their high-profile romance and respective proclivity for fashion statements, the couple have yet to walk a red carpet together.

However, Swift and Kelce have shown off their street style on numerous occasions.

In recent months, Swift and Kelce have flown under the radar.

Their most recent major public appearance was at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans in February.

Since Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ devastating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he and Swift have only been spotted a handful of times, stepping out for secret dinner dates in Park City, Utah, and New York in March.

After dominating headlines for nearly two years, the duo felt “a sense of relief” that they could finally enjoy downtime together following the conclusion of her Eras Tour and his NFL season, a source exclusively told Us Weekly in March.

During their time off, Swift and Kelce planned to “rest and decompress” while also figuring out their next steps.

“There’s no way to have a relationship when they’re all over the place with work,” a second insider said.

“It’s going to be easier now to find time to go over plans and make sure everything aligns.” Later that month, a source shared that Swift and Kelce were “taking it easy” and “laying low.”

A second insider added at the time, “They’ve been traveling, spending precious time together and letting the rest of the world go for a bit.”

In an April cover story, a source told Us that the two wanted to live a more “normal life” after being in the spotlight for so long.

A second insider agreed that Swift and Kelce “needed time for themselves,” noting, “Taylor and Travis are doing great, and they’re still very much together and in love. They’re just taking a break from the public eye.”
