Graham Walker, whose father is also Pat Mahomes Sr., was not selected by an NFL team during last week’s draft in Green Bay.
But he has now been given an invitation to the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp, which started on Saturday and is due to run until Monday at the team’s facility in Kansas City.
Walker spent three seasons at Brown University before transferring to Rice University and volunteering to change position from wide receiver to tight end.
Walker, who is 6-foot-3 and weighs 227 pounds, declared for the NFL draft in January after registering 24 receptions for 252 yards at Rice.
It is unclear what relationship Walker has with Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl champion and MVP, but they have met a few times.
