The Golden State Warriors weren’t able to close out their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets in Game 6 on Friday. As a result, the two teams are battling in Game 7 for the right to move on to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the next round.
In another low-scoring affair, the Warriors took a 51-39 lead at halftime. Guard Buddy Hield has been the hot hand for them so far, and he hit a long 3-pointer to end the first half and give them momentum going into the third quarter.

When Hield hit that trey, Stephen Curry reacted by giving the 3-point shot signal in the air with both hands.
The Warriors’ roster has been in a constant state of evolution over the years, and it is one reason why, while they have had some down seasons, they have always bounced back and gotten back to championship contention.
This season, it was the trade for six-time All-Star forward Jimmy Butler that reopened their championship window. But Hield’s arrival last summer in a massive trade has also helped.
The veteran sharpshooter averaged 11.1 points a game and shot 37% from 3-point range during the regular season. His play has been desultory during this series, but he is one of several Golden State role players who can get and stay hot in any given game.
Hield is under contract for three more seasons after this one, so he’ll have the opportunity to continue to contribute to Golden State as it looks to maximize what remains of the careers of both Curry and Butler.
