Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes is royalty to the devout fans of his team, but the star quarterback has Lonestar State roots that is now saying goodbye to in part.
Patrick Mahomes’ rise to superstardom has come about through his NFL career. Ever since the Kansas City Chiefs handed him the reins to their offense, Mahomes has lifted the franchise to extraordinary heights.
Three Super Bowl victories, a number of AFC Championships and repeated appearances on State Farm commercials have made him quite the celebrity in Kansas City.
But Mahomes is never shy to show off his Texas roots.
The quarterback played his college ball at Texas Tech and grew up in Tyler. Often times he can be found courtside watching his Dallas Mavericks play.
However, he will soon be saying goodbye to a part of that life he knew for so many years in the Lone Star state. Mahomes’ mother, Randi, has put Mahomes’ childhood home up for sale, according to Realtor.com.
She will be upgrading to an $825,000 home to move to with her youngest daughter, Mia.
“It’s bittersweet but it’s time for a change and Mia and I are so excited to have a new place to decorate and make a home and now I have a large space for those grandbabies,” she told the website.
Those grandbabies are in reference to Mahomes’ children, the third of which he and his wife Brittany welcomed to the world back in January.
“There were a lot of tears and laughter and memories in that house but it’s time to let a new family start to build their dream there now!”
While it may signal a bittersweet goodbye for Patrick, the closing of that chapter only means the continuation of the exciting ones he has already opened since leaving Tyler so many years ago.
