The 2025 NFL season is three months away, but the Kansas City Chiefs and star tight end Travis Kelce are hoping to make a run back to the Super Bowl and come out on top after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024.
Kelce considered the idea of retiring, but quickly opted to return for one more year. Clearly, losing in the big game did not sit well with him.
After making the decision to come back for at least one more year, Kelce spoke out and revealed his reasoning for playing in 2025.
“I don’t think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past,” Kelce said. “I got a bad taste in my mouth for how I ended the year and how well I was playing and how accountable I was for the people around me.”
During the 2024 season, Kelce played in 16 games.
He caught 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns.
Looking ahead to the 2025 campaign, fans are curious to see what kind of year he can have. He showed signs of regression last season and there is concern about more this year.

ESPN has revealed their projections for Kelce during the 2025 season.
They have him catching 80 passes for 786 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers show more regression, but still solid production.
Those numbers would still place him among the NFL’s top tight ends, but would not be the kind of play fans have become used to seeing from him.
