There is no such thing as having too much speed on your team when it comes to building out a regular season roster, and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to get a close look at one speedster after the draft.

While he is likely a name that fans aren’t familiar with, former cornerback and kick returner Cam Watts has absolute burners as shown by the 10.08 he ran in the 100-meter dash this past week. Fresh off of that effort on the track, Watts is set to get back on the gridiron sooner rather than later as he has been invited to workouts with the Chiefs and New Oreleans Saints, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

Following his achievement on the track, the Lobos official track and field account on X shared the post with all of its followers as a means of giving Watts his due respect.

During his senior season at New Mexico, Watts appears in 11 games and made 20 total tackles, in addition to deflecting four passes.

The fact that Watts is already comfortable in his own skin when it comes to his skills in the return game, there could very well be a place for the 5-foot-11 and 195 pounder on this roster as the versatile athlete who can serve multiple roles for the Chiefs.

Given Xavier Worthy’s importance to the offense out wide, conventional thinking would make one assume that Andy Reid does not want him returning kicks and punts for the long haul while in Kansas City.

There are no guarantees that Watts can ultimately be the player that makes the coaching staff comfortable with that type of move, but he will have his opportunity to show his worth once rookie minicamp opens.
