Entering training camp in 2024, hopes were high for the Kansas City Chiefs’ receiving corps that featured Rashee Rice, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, and Xavier Worthy. Sadly, those three never saw the field together in a regular-season game due to injuries.

Brown, who had AC joint surgery following the Chiefs’ 2024 preseason opener, returned in Week 16 after missing most of the season.

However, by that time, Rice, who tore his LCL in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, had been out for months.

That said, Kansas City decided they wanted to run the trio back earlier this offseason when they re-signed Brown to a one-year deal worth $7 million.

Even so, a timetable for Rice’s return had not been set yet, though some expect him back for the start of the 2025 season.

As insurance, the Chiefs drafted Utah State receiver Jalen Royals in case Rice isn’t available to start the season.

In response to this, the 25-year-old posted a video of himself training Tuesday afternoon on X.

Rashee Rice Sends a Message About His Recovery With Training Video

While it’s good to see Rice back in action, fans shouldn’t get excited too quickly. Running routes on air is a good first sign for his recovery, but there is still a long way to go.

Rice, like the rest of the team, will need to go through his first day of padded practice at some point later this offseason and see how he feels.

If he is able to hold up earlier than expected in a padded practice, the 25-year-old could return sooner than the organization thought.

Assuming that happens, Royals won’t need to step in for Rice. which would be he best-case scenario.

Chiefs fans will certainly be keeping an eye on this situation throughout training camp and the preseason.
