Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green flirted with an ejection in Monday’s Game 4 against the Houston Rockets, but returned to make one of the biggest plays of the night.
With the Warriors holding a one-point lead in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, Green smothered Rockets big man Alperen Sengun’s shot in the lane. The Warriors gathered the rebound and went on to win 109-106, though the game was not without controversy.
Green was involved in a series of altercations, receiving one technical foul and another flagrant foul. His performance drew some controversy, with fans questioning why Green was not ejected. Warriors coach Steve Kerr was forced to sit Green for a long stretch as he was in foul trouble, but the Warriors held tight to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Green admitted that he likes playing close to the edge.
“I’ve always walked that line,” Green said. “That’s who I am. Habitual line stepper.”

Green’s line, a reference to a famous story from actor and comedian Charlie Murphy on “Chappelle’s Show,” drew a laugh from the reporters in the room. But Kerr has agreed with the sentiment, saying earlier in the series that the All-Star big man is an “instigator.”
“Draymond’s been around forever. He’s an instigator,” Kerr said. “He’s always gonna be in the mix and because of his career, his championships, his fire, he’s gonna be a lightning rod. That’s all part of it.”
The Warriors need just one more win to close out the series and will now face the Rockets in Game 5 on Wednesday night.
