UPDATE: Chiefs WR Likely Has Already Played His Final Game for Kansas City

The Chiefs are just one day away from the trade deadline and are expected to remain active in pursuit of a historic third straight Super Bowl. They’ve already added WR DeAndre Hopkins and DE Josh Uche with rumors of more deals to come.

Unfortunately for WR Skyy Moore, who is currently on the injured reserve list, that could mean the third-year wideout has already played his final game with the organization. He does not have a catch this season and if the Chiefs add another receiver or Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown returns sooner than expected, Moore is the odd man out.

Patrick Mahomes would certainly like another weapon. Moore’s career hasn’t gone as planned when Brett Veach drafted him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Barring a surprise, he may stay on the injured list all year long.

With Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Watson, and Mecole Hardman, the Chiefs are relatively set at receiver. Once Brown gets back, it’s hard to imagine a place for Moore on the active roster.

He already has two drops despite seeing his playing time crater. Patrick Mahomes’ passer rating has never been higher than 52 when targeting Moore and his frustration is clear. It’s time for Moore to get a fresh start elsewhere. He’s a talented player and should get an opportunity elsewhere.

If Kansas City does get another receiver ahead of the deadline, then Moore’s time is unquestionably done. He still has one more year under contract but would be an obvious cut candidate going into next year.

Perhaps Moore will come back from injury and come up with a big play in a pivotal game. More likely though, he’ll stay on the injured list through the year and try to rebuild his value next summer.
