Patrick Mahomes Issues Subtle Warning Ahead of 2025 NFL Season

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes expects to play vs. Texans in matchup of AFC West and South champions | AP News

The NFL draft is set to begin on Thursday, and while the new league year has already kicked off, this week truly feels like the focus has shifted to the upcoming season-especially with several players returning to their facilities for voluntary offseason workouts.

One of those teams is the Kansas City Chiefs, who ended last season with a sour taste in their mouths after being dismantled by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Despite that, Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes addressed the media on Thursday, offering an honest and optimistic outlook for the upcoming season.

He was asked about the current state of the offense, with a full offseason to work with Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Rashee Rice back and healthy, Xavier Worthy heading into year two, and his partner in crime, Travis Kelce, returning after mulling retirement.

The three-time Super Bowl champion had a subtle warning in his message to the rest of the NFL about what the Chiefs are hoping to get back to this coming season.

“Everything looks great right now getting the guys back and healthy,” Mahomes said. “I think the offense has a chance to be really, really good. The core group will be back in its entirety, so the goal is to try to build on it and get even better and try to get back to some of the explosive passing plays that we’ve done in years past.”

The Chiefs’ offense has taken a step back in overall production over the last two seasons, due in large part to roster turnover-but also to injuries that have derailed their receiving corps, with Rice and Brown being the latest to miss significant time.

With everyone expected to be healthy heading into next season, expectations are once again sky-high in Kansas City. This offense has the potential to be one of the most talented Mahomes has had around him since the dynamic duo of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce dominated from 2016 to 2021.
