The Kansas City Chiefs went back to the drawing board after failing to secure the first-ever 3-peat in NFL history.

The Chiefs used free agency as a place to re-sign guys while also bringing in other players from other organizations.

With the NFL Draft finally slated to take place this week, there could be movement around the league. One player who didn’t look the same last season was running back Isiah Pacheco.

In Week 2, Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula that caused him to miss multiple weeks.

Upon his return, Pacheco didn’t have the same burst and juice that fans were expecting. In addition to his step back in play, the Chiefs re-signed Kareem Hunt and added Elijah Mitchell in free agency.

The Chiefs could move on from Pacheco ahead of the draft, and the Chicago Bears appear to be a logical choice.

They hired Ben Johnson to be their new head coach, and he is known for being an offensive guru. During his time as the offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions, they had a dynamic duo at running back with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.

With Swift already in the fold for Chicago, adding Pacheco would give them a talented one-two punch. In this scenario, the Bears sent a 2025 fifth-round pick in exchange for Pacheco.

Chiefs Trade RB Isiah Pacheco to Bears in Projected Trade Before NFL Draft

Pacheco is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, and if the Chiefs don’t think they will extend him next offseason, they would be wise to move on from him and get some draft capital in return.

Hunt and Mitchell are good enough to hold down the fort, but in this case, the Chiefs would likely bring in another running back via the NFL Draft.

This RB class is considered to be deep, and teams could find playmakers on all three days of the draft.

RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt and RB Damien Martinez were both brought in for pre-draft visits, showcasing the Chiefs’ interest.

Whether or not Kansas City selects either guy remains to be seen, but they could be eyeing to draft Pacheco’s replacement.
