The Chicago Bulls posted yet another mediocre finish on their season.

As a Play-In Tournament squad, the Bulls suffered a loss that sent them out of the postseason and into the NBA draft lottery.

The club has been unable to build a real playoff team in years, as they were derailed by injuries years ago and haven’t been able to recover.

However, with Josh Giddey’s emergence after the organization traded Zach LaVine at the deadline, there seems to be a sense of optimism in the Windy City.

Still, what does the Bulls’ future look like? They don’t have a true superstar potential player that can someday lead them back to the promise land.

They’ve also got a young, fun group that seems difficult to break up, outside of an inevitable move to land Nikola Vucevic on a contending squad.

Given they missed the playoffs, Chicago has a lottery pick in the upcoming draft, and they’ll have their eyes firmly on how the ping pong balls fall as they aim to draft even more young, high-potential talent.

NBA makes unlucky Bulls announcement

On Monday, with the NBA playoffs underway, the league flipped coins to determine tiebreakers for lottery teams and draft positioning.

The coin flip hurt the Bulls, too, as the Dallas Mavericks won the toss between the two sides to give them the 11th-best positioning.

Chicago will hold the 12th-best spot in the lottery ahead of the May 12 draw.

As K.C. Johnson shared on X, the Bulls now have 8% odds at moving into the top-four picks of the 2024 draft.

“Bulls lost tiebreaker with Mavericks and will enter May 12 NBA draft lottery slotted 12th. They have 8 percent at top-4 and 1.7 percent chance at top pick,” Johnson shared on X.

The Bulls dropped one spot in the lottery with the toss of a coin.

This is crucial, considering the level of talent coming in the 2025 draft pool.

Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, VJ Edgecomb, Dylan Harper and more headline an incredible pool of prospects.

The Bulls need a young talent to be the cornerstone of the franchise, and they don’t have that yet. The draft is the best way to solidify such, and having odds at a lower pick certainly doesn’t help their case.
