Chiefs’ Buck Offensive Trend With ‘Twitched-Up’ Defensive Monster In Mock Draft

Much has been made of the Kansas City Chiefs’ draft plans after the Super Bowl debacle, when the Philadelphia Eagles shredded the offensive line.

This, naturally, has led many to think that the Chiefs should take a left tackle, which is the most problematic position for them in the first round.

The likes of Josh Simmons and Josh Conerly Jr. have been the players most mocked to the Chiefs in several drafts, but let’s not forget the franchise signed Jaylon Moore to a two-year deal to be the starter.

While most aren’t sold on Moore and his 12 starts in four years to be the solution, what if the Chiefs are?

That then leads to Gennaro Filice’s latest mock draft for NFL.com, in which the Chiefs get Chris Jones some much-needed help along the defensive line with Mike Green.

“Green’s a difficult prospect to project, given the off-field allegations he addressed at the combine,” Filice writes. “The on-field production speaks for itself, as Green just led the nation with 17 sacks. And although many of those came against Sun Belt competition, he tallied three sacks and a bunch of pressures in nonconference games against Virginia Tech and Ohio State. A twitched-up edge rusher whose motor always runs hot, Green could be a steal if he falls this far, and Andy Reid’s comfortable with his character.”

The defensive game wrecker from Marshall, Green could be a great addition to the Chiefs’ defensive line if he lasts to No. 31.

Playing with an explosiveness and violence that Steve Spagnuolo will love, Green has the ability to play with tenacity and high motor that will serve him well in the NFL as he is the very definition of all gas, no brakes.

Given the Chiefs’ offensive line concerns, we could still see them take a left tackle in the first round, but if they are confident in Moore, Green could be a nice addition to the defense to play alongside Jones and George Karlaftis.
