BREAKING: Austin Reaves Sends Cryptic Message to Dalton Knecht Ahead of NBA Playoffs

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs’ first round.

LA, led by stars Luka Doncic and LeBron James, will be looking to strike first against a Minnesota squad powered by rising star Anthony Edwards—who famously swept the Phoenix Suns in last year’s opening round.

While the spotlight will mostly shine on the household names, this series will also mark the playoff debut for Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht. Selected 17th overall in last year’s draft, Knecht has had an up-and-down rookie season.

From a rescinded trade to the Charlotte Hornets in February to limited rotation minutes under head coach JJ Redick, Knecht has had to remain patient in carving out his place.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Dalton Knecht (4).Still, the former Tennessee standout appears ready for the moment. Taking to Instagram ahead of Saturday’s series opener, Knecht posted a photo of himself on the court with the caption: “Playoff Mode.”

The post drew support from around the league, including a short but meaningful reply from teammate Austin Reaves:

“My dawg!!!”

Much like Knecht at the moment, Reaves had to earn his spot on the Lakers starting roster after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. Reaves, preparing for his third consecutive postseason, has emerged as a key contributor for the Lakers this season. Often the team’s third offensive option behind Doncic and LeBron, Reaves has become a trusted presence in crunch time for LA.

As the Lakers eye their 18th NBA championship, they’ll need contributions from top to bottom of the roster—and for Knecht, the playoffs might be just the stage to solidify his spot in LA’s long-term plans.
