After a 3-2 start, things have gone off the track for the Chicago Bulls. They have lost four straight games. The latest of those defeats came at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. With Josh Giddey being the only notable addition and the departure of key stars like DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso, it seems unlikely that the team will be able to contend for a playoff spot. Despite this, the strong start to the season had raised hopes for a competitive season. Injuries continue to affect their performance. After Lonzo Ball’s wrist sprain, the Bulls were hit again by Zach LaVine’s shoulder injury.
It has kept him out for the last three games, all of which the team have lost. However, there is a positive update on his recovery. It looks like LaVine could be involved when the Bulls take to the court next, against the Atlanta Hawks at the weekend. According to K.C. Johnson on X: “LaVine is getting solid workout in on the court now. Barring setback, look for him Saturday in Atlanta.” LaVine is getting solid workout in on the court now. Barring setback, look for him Saturday in Atlanta.
Over the first six games of the season, LaVine averaged 22.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He was one of the main reasons why the Bulls looked competitive and were able to shoot their way out of trouble at times. Individually, he made 22 three-pointers and was making 45.8% of his shots from beyond the arc. In the eyes of many, LaVine has proven that he is still one of the most dynamic scorers in the league and his trade value should be significantly higher now than what it was in the summer. That being said, the early injury has raised concerns about potential future setbacks.
