NEWS UPDATE: Lakers exclude two big men from playoff roster

Lakers two-way players Trey Jemison III and Christian Koloko will not be part of the team’s playoff roster.

The Los Angeles Lakers have finalized their roster for the upcoming NBA playoff run, which begins this Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Lakers two-way players Trey Jemison III and Christian Koloko were not converted to standard NBA contracts before the end of the regular season.

As a result, they are ineligible to participate in the playoffs, per league rules prohibiting two-way players from appearing in postseason games.

Despite their ineligibility, both players will remain with the team throughout the playoff run and continue to practice with the squad.

Jemison had a limited role during the regular season, appearing in 22 games and averaging 2.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game. Koloko saw action in 35 games, averaging 2.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.4 assists.

With Jemison and Koloko unavailable, the Lakers will head into the playoffs with just two true centers on the roster: Jaxson Hayes and Alex Len.

As a result, forwards like Dorian Finney-Smith and Rui Hachimura are expected to spend some time filling in at the center position during the postseason.
