Chiefs could bring former player back on a bargain who played key role in helping them win 2 Super Bowls 🔗⤵️

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed (38) reacts after a play during the first half of a 2024 AFC wild card game against the Miami Dolphins at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Last offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs traded cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans for a 2025 third-round pick, and the two teams swapped 2024 seventh-round picks.

The Chiefs’ secondary was definitely not as strong without Sneed in 2024, but got by fine overall. Unfortunately for Sneed, a quadriceps injury that he suffered in Week 6 cost him the rest of the season.

While he appears to be on track for a healthy 2025 season, Sneed now finds himself in hot water off the field with the law. He is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting at a Texas car dealership.

While hitting on a number of NFL and college football topics, NFL insider Albert Breer suggested that the Chiefs could be interested in bringing Sneed back if Tennessee were to cut him amid his legal troubles.

There’s a lot of factors that would have to fall into place before we get to a potential Kansas City/Sneed reunion. First and foremost is how Sneed’s legal situation ends up playing out, which could take a lot of time.

Even if the Titans decided to wash their hands of him before everything unfolds, the Chiefs would likely want to wait until the final verdict before re-signing him. Tennessee would also have to weigh the financial ramifications of releasing Sneed after giving him a four-year, $76.4 million contract with $55 million guaranteed.

If Sneed does get cut, K.C. (or any team) will very likely get him on a bargain. Sneed excelled in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s system, and the Chiefs would suddenly have a loaded secondary following the acquisition of Kristian Fulton.

However, the Chiefs could come under fire for bringing back Sneed after having rostering numerous players with off-field conflicts over the past few years, including one that is still ongoing with wide receiver Rashee Rice. Sneed returning to K.C. is more of an idea than anything right now, but it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
