REPORT: The One Song Taylor Swift Wrote For A Movie 14 Years Ago Proves She Needs To Do It Again

Taylor Swift Red Hunger Games

Taylor Swift wrote a great song for a popular movie over a decade ago, and it’s definitely an avenue she should go down again.

The pop singer started contributing music to films pretty early into her career. After releasing her second studio album, Taylor Swift performed her song “Crazier” in Hannah Montana: The Movie and lent it to the film’s official soundtrack. She also co-wrote the film’s final song, “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home,” for Miley Cyrus to perform.

In 2013, Swift wrote with Jack Antonoff for the first time when they contributed “Sweeter Than Fiction” to the British film One Chance.

More recently, the singer-songwriter contributed “Carolina” to the hit film Where The Crawdads Sing. However, arguably her best soundtrack contribution happened early in her career, when the singer wrote an unforgettable song for The Hunger Games soundtrack.

Taylor Swift’s “Safe & Sound” Is Iconic Even Beyond The Hunger Games

Safe & Sound Marked A New Era For Taylor Swift

When Taylor Swift released Safe & Sound, her Speak Now era was nearing its end, but the Red era wouldn’t begin for about another year. Still, Swift had debuted a new hairstyle, cutting bangs and wearing it straight instead of her famous curls.

This new look came to life in the Safe & Sound music video

. The Civil Wars collaboration proved she was ready to branch out with her music and shift her image. Her first three albums were country, but she incorporated elements of pop and rock.

“Safe & Sound,” on the other hand, is an indie folk song. At this time, this was a genre she hadn’t yet touched. The lyrics were also a lot darker than what Swift had written about on her three studio albums. It was the perfect song for a heavy movie like The Hunger Games and marked the official start of a new Taylor Swift. The singer also contributed the rock-inspired song “Eyes Open” to The Hunger Games soundtrack, but “Safe & Sound” gained more recognition.

This Underrated Taylor Swift Song From 1 Year Ago Is About To Become Her Song Of The Summer

One year after its initial release, another Taylor Swift song is blowing up on social media and is set to be her next song of the summer.

With this new era, Swift was no longer the girl next door writing about boys in class. The Hunger Games track was a turning point in Swift’s career as she didn’t have to put herself in a box and define herself solely as a country artist anymore.

Taylor Swift has become known for taking risks in her career, and this one paid off. It led to her freeing herself from genres and even got her the Best Song Written for Visual Media Grammy award and a Best Original Song Golden Globe nomination.

Sunrise On The Reaping’s Soundtrack Should Include A New Swift Song

Swift Could Make Her Return To The Hunger Games

Since Olivia Rodrigo is a certified Taylor Swift Taydaughter, it feels fitting that for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Rodrigo contributed a song like Swift did for the original film. Rodrigo’s song was also folk-inspired and fit well into the plot of the movie.

However, with a new prequel to The Hunger Games, recruiting Swift for another song would be a full-circle moment. Swift tapped into folk music in 2020 when she released folklore and evermore, mostly working with Aaron Dessner as a producer. The two make a great pair when producing more acoustic music.

“Just close your eyes

The sun is going down

You’ll be alright

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light

You and I’ll be safe and sound.”

Swift and Dessner would be the perfect team for a track for Sunrise On The Reaping. As Swift’s career has gone on, she’s tapped into darker sounds and lyrics more regularly.

Her folklore track “epiphany” is particularly heavy, so she’s more than capable of making a fitting song for the new film.

The Hunger Games fans have been flooded with nostalgia since The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and even more so with the new film on its way. Taylor Swift contributing another song for the franchise would add to this nostalgia and make the film even more exciting.
