Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship has been pretty steady despite the fact that they’ve had to deal with a lot of external drama from the beginning of their relationship. And to be fair, it’s hard to avoid all the external attention when you are two superstars like they are, and the relationship started the way theirs did, in a fairytale fashion. Swift’s relationship with Joe Alwyn was kept on the down-low, but her relationship with Kelce has been lived in the spotlight for the most part.
It all started when Kelce revealed on his New Heights podcast in 2023 that he tried to give Swift his number via a friendship bracelet at her Eras Tour show in Kansas City. Swift referred to it as “adorably putting her on blast,” something that to her was “metal as hell” in her Time 2023 Person of The Year profile. The rest is history, and a good one at that. Enough that people go weeks wondering if there’s a wedding on the horizon or if the two are breaking up.
On the contrary, the two seem to be going stronger than ever. However, the Kansas City Chiefs seem to have dealt a serious blow to the couple’s holiday plans this year, with The Athletic reporting that the Chiefs have requested to play on Christmas once again. Since Swift and Kelce started dating, the couple has not been able to spend one Christmas together due to Kelce’s NFL commitments.
Apparently, the Chiefs are looking to become a staple on Christmas, like the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. In 2025, there will be 3 NFL Christmas games; two will be streamed by Netflix, and the third one will be streamed by Amazon Prime.
Many people were expecting Kelce to walk away from the game after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, but the TE decided he would return to the Chiefs for at least one more season. “I still feel I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year,” Kelce said about his decision. “I don’t think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past.”
What that means for Kelce going forward, it’s hard to tell. He’s only under contract for one more year, so the decision he makes at the end of the 2025 season will be an even bigger one. For now, though, it looks like he and Swift will be spending another Christmas apart. But they’ve taken some time to reconnect and spend time together during the past few months since the Super Bowl.
“A lot of their time is spent at home just relaxing. Despite their fame, they’re really just like any other couple,” an insider told Page Six. “They like to cuddle on the couch and watch movies, play board games, spend time with family, cook dinner together and just hang out,” the source added, which sounds to us not just like any other couple, but like any other happy couple
“This is such a nice escape for them to finally be able to stay out of the limelight for a bit before they eventually have to get out in the public eye again due to their careers,” the outlet also added. They really cherish this time while they can because they know it can’t last forever. “So no, no breakup in sight for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, just some time away from prying eyes spent together.
