Giolito tossed 3 1/3 innings in Worcester
Giolito made his second rehab start of the season Wednesday with Triple-A Worcester. The right-hander tallied 3 1/3 innings for the Red Sox affiliate with one earned run allowed on three hits. Giolito also walked three and struck out three hitters in the outing at Polar Park.
You can watch the Red Sox starter’s strikeouts here.
He did throw more than 30 of his 64 pitches in the first inning, though he worked through trouble to get up and down multiple times in his start. Giolito should be a valuable piece of the rotation more than a year after Boston signed him to join the group.
The Red Sox also have Brayan Bello with Worcester on a rehab stint where he’ll start again Friday. Boston also waits for Kutter Crawford to work up to that level and eventually make his season debut with a likely timeline for May.
