The Los Angeles Dodgers are always among the select group of teams in MLB who are continuously looking to add to their roster.
While Los Angeles is already loaded with talent at seemingly every position, there are still aspects of the team that could improve.
For instance, they are in the midst of a sloppy defensive effort over the past week or so and could improve defensively in the middle of the infield.
There has been speculation about Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette being traded for quite some time now, and the Dodgers have also reportedly been in on him.
In the most recent trade pitch by Athlon Sports, the Dodgers receive Bo Bichette in a blockbuster trade that sends starting pitcher Dustin May, and Los Angeles’s fifth-ranked prospect Alex Freeland to the Blue Jays.
Mookie Betts is in the midst of a positional change to shortstop but has had his troubles and may benefit by moving to second.
This would allow utilityman Tommy Edman to move to center field primarily, where the Dodgers have not received stable contributions from Andy Pages.
This is a situation where the Dodgers can sell high on Dustin May, who has had a solid start to the 2025 campaign, but may be out of a starter spot whenever Shohei Ohtani returns to the mound.
As for Bichette, he would be a great addition to Los Angeles.
He is coming off a down season where he hit just .225 over 81 games in 2024, but led the American League in hits in both 2021 and 2022, and has shown the ability to be an extra-base hit machine.
The Blue Jays have not made it clear whether they have engaged in contract talks with Bichette, who will be a free agent after the 2025 season.
Bichette is certainly a name to look out for as trade season ramps up.
