Shock twist in bitter legal feud between Chiefs star Xavier Worthy and ex-fiancee Tia Jones | Daily Mail Online

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy and his ex-fiancee Tia Jones are dropping their legal cases against one another, according to reports.

TMZ Sports claims Worthy and his former partner finally reached an agreement on Tuesday, meaning he rescinded both his application for a protective order and the lawsuit he filed against her last month.

Jones, who got engaged to the former University of Texas star in July, is also scrapping her application for permanent protective order against him.

The sprinter filed and received a protective order against Worthy last month, just days after he was arrested for allegedly strangling a ‘family or household member’ on March 7.

He described her allegation as ‘baseless’ and Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick later declined to file charges against the 21-year-old.

Worthy then hit back at his ex-fiancee again, filing a lawsuit against Jones in Texas while seeking $250,000 in damages.

However, the Chiefs wideout has now agreed to end the bitter legal feud and move on.

‘I regret any misunderstandings or conflicts that arose during my relationship with my ex-fiancée,’ Worthy said in a statement. ‘I also acknowledge that my legal representatives may have made public statements about my ex-fiancée that were intended to protect me, but were misstated.

‘Ending a relationship that spanned over a year can be an emotional experience, and sometimes words are spoken out of hurt and frustration. This matter has now been settled.’

Jones’ attorney Angelica Cogliano also added: ‘This matter has now been settled.’

In her filing, Jones had accused Worthy of repeatedly beating her throughout the relationship and nearly killing on her the night of the March 7 dispute that led to his arrest.

Of the five alleged incidents of domestic violence over the last year, the altercation on March 7 ‘was the absolute most violent he has ever been,’ Jones said in the filing provided to DailyMail.com.

Somehow Worthy became upset that he and his new dog were being ignored by Jones, leading him to become angry with her. The two exchanged words before he ‘flipped out,’ according to the filing.

Jones said her vision was impacted as a result and she needed to cancel track practice because she was in so much pain. Furthermore, Jones accused Worthy of stealing her phone, tablet and computer, adding that she needed to contact a neighbor for help.

Worthy consistently denied the allegations, previously accusing her of infidelity and an extortion plot.

One of the NFL’s fastest players, Worthy was a first-round pick of the Chiefs in 2024 before catching 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.

Furthermore, he had a touchdown catch in the AFC Championship win over the Buffalo Bills and two more in a Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Worthy is now entering the second season of his four-year, $13million rookie contract.
