After missing a hotly contested overtime matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday evening, it appears that Tyler Herro may be back on the hardwood as soon as this week.
The All-Star guard, who sat out the Miami Heat’s 121-115 loss to Milwaukee with a right thigh contusion, has been upgraded to questionable for Miami’s upcoming matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.
With just four games left in the regular season, Herro’s impending return could have massive implications in the Heat’s current standing in the 2025 Play-In Tournament picture.
Miami currently sits at 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 35-43 record, just one game behind the ninth-place Chicago Bulls. The Heat also trail the Atlanta Hawks, their Southeast Division rivals, by 1.5 games for the eighth seed — which would put them in a far more favorable position to make the 2025 NBA playoffs.
Rounding out this year’s Eastern Conference play-in slate, the Orlando Magic stand alone as the current seventh seed at 38-40 on the year — three games ahead of Miami.
Herro has been one of the sole bright spots in an otherwise shaky 2024-25 Heat campaign. Coming off the first All Star game appearance of his young career, the 25-year-old sharpshooter has averaged a career-high 23.9 points and 5.6 assists per game.
Ironically enough, Herro has also stayed healthy through the majority of the season — something which has been an issue for him before. Counting Saturday’s game, he has only missed four games so far in the campaign, with his 74 (and counting) appearances already setting another career-best mark.
The Heat and 76ers will face off at the Kaseya Center on Monday evening. Tip-off time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
