When Super Bowl LIX ended, the initial major question facing the Kansas City Chiefs did not encompass the entire team, but rather one player’s future. Rumors swirled about Travis Kelce’s potential retirement from the NFL in some ways overshadowing the game in the build up.
Kelce left all doors open, refusing to commit one way or the other when speaking with reporters after the game. Finally getting some time to mull over his future and speak with his girlfriend Taylor Swift, Kelce sided on playing one more year.
The future Hall of Fame tight end may no longer be at the peak of his powers, but remains an integral element of the Chiefs’ core. Kelce put his importance on on full display when he tallied seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Divisional Round.
Nonetheless, Kelce has been anything but vocal since the decision on his future came down. He has continued with his podcast “New Heights” though limited in the public beyond that creative space.
Kelce is not one to shy away from the attention, but perhaps he has taken a mental reset at this time. The spotlight he and Swift have shared since striking their romance has become astronomical, truly boiling over amid February’s Super Bowl festivities.
“Obviously the [Eras Tour] threw them into the spotlight,” a source told the US Weekly. “[Now] they’re enjoying some R&R after working their butts off, making the most of their time off. They’re fully living their best lives.”
Another source noted the couple is living their “dream.”.
Maybe they’ll also make another public appearance as they did a year ago as established by a 2024 Coachella video now making the rounds.

For both Swift and Kelce the time away is deserved. When Kelce gets back to football activities, he and the Chiefs have their work cut out for the 2025 season.
Kansas City has used their offseason to hopefully strengthen the infrastructure around quarterback Patrick Mahomes with the NFL Draft still on the horizon. The Chiefs will need to ensure the proper adjustments have been made.
Their reign over the AFC has spanned several years and they have been a championship contender now for over a half decade. The threats atop of the conference have grown stronger by the year and may be ready to pounce next January.
The Chiefs will need the best of Kelce for one more season to ensure that does not happen.
