Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were the talk of the world prior to the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.
They were “the” celebrity couple and everything was strawberries and cream…until it wasn’t.
The poor performance from Kelce and the booing of Swift from Eagles fans led both to seek damage control, with the pair being the center of everyone’s attention for the wrong reasons.
As such, they were reportedly instructed to lay low and keep out of the public eye to let things cool down, which, as we now see, was a good thing to do.
And David E. Johnson, who is the CEO and founder of Strategic Vision PR Group, who spoke with US Weekly, agrees that the pair were getting into dangerous territory.
“It was a smart move,” Johnson said. “They’d become overexposed to the point we were starting to see a slight backlash against their brand. No celebrity wants to be overexposed… Limiting their exposure lends more intrigue, and their appearances garner more coverage.”
Since the Super Bowl, Kelce and Swift, who took a few weeks away from the spotlight, have only begun to step out into the public eye in the last couple of weeks.
Of course, the pressure on the pair has quietened significantly, and it has led them to live a relatively “normal” life as a couple.
Now, once the NFL season begins, that could change, especially if Kelce’s form dips, but right now, getting out of the spotlight was the best thing for the pair.
We know it won’t stay that way, but now they are surely conscious of what to do and what not to do going forward.
