Unbelievable: Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Freddie Freeman Placed on IL for Hilarious Reason

The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t have gotten off to a better start to the season. They’re a whopping 8-0 and have looked like world-beaters in nearly every facet.

Baseball’s uniquely long season means that every team will have some zany storylines throughout the year. And, the Los Angeles Dodgers have their first one of the year as star 1B Freddie Freeman is on the injured list for a wild reason.

Freeman, a future Hall of Fame selection who hit one of the most memorable World Series home runs of all-time last year when he socked a walk-off Grand Slam to beat the Yankees in Game 1 while being injured, got off to a good start in the team’s three-game series last week against the Tigers after not playing in the team’s two regular season games in Japan against the Cubs two weeks ago that kicked off the regular season.

He hit two homers in those three games against the Tigers, but didn’t play at all against his former team, the Atlanta Braves, in the team’s sweep this year. Now, we know why. Here’s Yahoo! Sports with more.

The Dodgers announced Thursday they are placing the reigning World Series MVP on the 10-day injured list with a right ankle injury he incurred from slipping in the shower at home.

The move is retroactive to March 31.

There was no corresponding move, as the Dodgers were off Thursday, but they’ll be able to add a player to their 26-man roster before Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.Freeman has appeared in only three games this season and none since March 29.

The shower incident reportedly occurred last weekend, with manager Dave Roberts describing it as a “little mishap,” per MLB.com’s Sonja Chen.

That’s quite the way to end up on the Injured List. Based on the incredible roster they’ve put together, I don’t think anyone is going to feel bad for the Dodgers.
